Now we'll see if Tilly's the kind of vacuum girlfriend that cleans off every former relationship around the couple (close relatives and long-time friends included). And if Jon lets himself be sucked in... Won't the secret crush for Anna fight off?

Tilly did it to herself. Sure, the mature response on Anna's part would have been to tell Tilly her invitation didn't come with fight-picking privileges and that she should go find somewhere else to be if she wants to do that kind of thing. Still, people have killed over having their hospitality insulted or transgressed, and Tilly getting slagged back by Anna after picking an insult fight with her does not even register on the scale of Anna's transgressions.

I can't even fault Seth for his schadenfreude since it is strongly hinted Tilly has done just as badly to him more than once. How many times was it? It could be a lot of times considering how much snarling she did at Jon-Seth when he did Seth's job without any slacking or messing up.

As far as the age difference goes, is Anna really that far past her own teenage years? Would Tilly have come out any better against Anna as she was at Tilly's age? I suspect that any less insult damage Tilly would've suffered from a younger Anna would be more than balanced by an increase in some other kind of violence.

"the mature response on Anna's part" that's where you're going wrong. Seriously though, yeah, she was perfectly within her right to just say "hey stop that, we barely know you" but she thought this would be more fun.

And yeah, Anna's recently 20, which is pretty dang close to teenagerdom if you ask me.

Ay, yes, 20 is close to teenagerdom, but it is still miles away from it as well. Isn't Tilly 17? I mean, I know when I was 17, I was an idiot. I was still an idiot at 20, but I was a learned idiot!

Tilly's recently 18. I know when I turned 20, 18 felt a million miles away, but now I'm nearly 30 they're the same age to me lol I certainly was a more educated idiot at 20 though, that I will say!

The number of things to learn keeps increasing faster than people could ever learn them, and faster than ever before as well. This means everybody is either completely ignorant or has surface level knowledge at best of almost every important thing. That means everybody is an ignorant fool, because it's impossible to learn, understand and apply enough knowledge to not be an ignorant fool.

This explains so much about why leaders in government, business and elsewhere nearly always are a bunch of tossers: Hierarchical leadership always was problematic and prone to corruption, and now it is obsolete too.

Yeah, asking for the mature response from Anna is unlikely to get very far when she has a range of socially and physically violent options she could get away with.

Perhaps a better way to have cut her down is to ask why taking a dig is the very first thing she does after meeting Anna, and if being that kind of arsehole is a part of her management style. Then maybe share about how that kind of manager always gets theirs back when people taint their food and drink, steal, misplace or otherwise mess with their belongings, and spread the word about what an arsehole they are to other people by telling the truth about the horrible things they say and do.
