That move of hers must have a directional advantage, she usually pulls it off from a lower angle.

If Tilly wants an honest and unbiased answer, she should better ask some random strangers...

Asking the shop staff has given me variable results - once when trying on glasses the woman at the shop was very honest about which frames suited my face and which didn't. Clothed shops less so in my experience...

It's about the commissions in that kind of case usually, trying to upsell you something you don't want or need.

Sure, the shop employees also have "an own horse in the race", so to speak. Thus I was more thinking about the other customers when I said "random strangers". (Which could of course get very awkward if you simply ask them for their opinion...)

Ooh yeah, I would never have the confidence to ask another customer something like that, as a combination of my being British and being hopelessly awkward.

Once upon a time there was a website that submitted pics uploaded to it for judgment as being hot or not. If you had enough time to spend on making use of something like that it may come close to what you want, wouldn't it?

Lol I wasn't expecting Tuesday to become a new euphemism but I'm not complaining

Something strikes me as deeply wrong here, and it's not only the creepy and pretentious title of the book Jon is reading. (Am I the only person whose bullshit detector pegs the red line over that title?)

The woman trying on clothes asking a man for an opinion and getting angry at him is a cliché standard of the sitcom genre. It's no surprise if a lady gets stressed and moody over the details and significance of nudity coverings since people will react with disapproval, disregard, undesirable interest, and/or mockery over it no matter what she wears. Still, if you think about it there's something sinister and awful going on here: Why does Tilly really snap at Jon? Why does she seem to like it that he fast-talked his way out of her anger? There's something rotten about it.

I'm gonna refrain from dropping my ~authorial intent~ all over the place and just agree that this page does have a certain unsettling vibe which was only partly intentional. Possibly the result of me rewriting this page a few times, since I knew what I wanted the page to do, but wasn't completely sure how it would get there, and she ends up acting maybe a little more erratic than I intended? Though being unpredictable isn't too out of character for her, it did give this interaction a flavour I didn't really intend. Writing do be like that sometimes

Erratic is par for teenagers and young adults. The thing is that the sitcom cliché being acted out here is usually exaggerated for effect or consciously being played to by the lady in question because she feels like she's got a free pass on being temperamental because of the situation. The thing is that both people in our couple here come off as manipulatively phony.

That could be true of them.
Not that deep imo (Guest)
