Stickmen, eh? I suppose if it works to figure out panel and character arrangement there's little reason to put more effort into it. There's more than zero reason, though: The more stickmen we draw the easier it gets, and the more often we get tempted to do it in inappropriate times and places. I learned this the hard way.

Being fair to Paul, how would he notice if he doesn't know Jon? Most of Jon's beef is low-key, low-impact passive-aggressive nonsense, stupid remarks behind his back, and a gathering storm of stupidity in his head. I've known plenty who were directly grouchier towards people they like except for the part of sniping behind Paul's back.

Being fair to Jon, he spends so much time trapped with his head up his ass for surprisingly fair reasons: His brother's a bit of an airhead, their neighbour he sees all the time he's desperately trying not to hit on, his job is a service job where his thoughts are rarely asked for, and....

Hit the nail on the head with that one. It's easy to assume everyone is also in your own head. Then someone doesn't know about all the cool mean stuff you've been thinking about very loudly to them and you're like WHAT?
