Honestly if I were that guy I would not start on someone Paul’s size, and also I kind of feel Paul is the wronged party here but HEY HO.

Be fair, Paul's the one that wasn't looking where he was going and bumped into the guy from behind. Up to the point face-puncher dude opened his mouth Paul was the only one at fault. Jon's response could fairly be called picking a fight too. Frankly, I'm surprised there's no big thug in a security "uniform" showing up to kick all of these people out; dance clubs full of coloured lights tend to have aggressive security that respond quickly to "disturbances" usually, don't they?

Partial non-sequitur, this scene reminds me of some hilariously bad voice acting in a videogame that's about twenty years old called Deus Ex: "I spill my drink!"

Oh yeah, I never like scenes like these to be completely one-sided. Everyone's at least a little in the wrong here: Paul for not looking where he was going, the guy for getting aggressive, Jon for escalating, hell, even Ken for drinking too much and falling on his face. And Ty for... disappearing when everyone needed his diplomacy skills the most. Okay Ty's the only one who isn't at fault here.

I'm not going to play the blame game, and I'm certainly not going to say Jon deserved a bloody and or broken nose, but he was certainly out of line, especially considering he's supposed to be the *sober* member of their group. I think if he'd just kept his mouth shut they would have gotten out of there none the worse for wear, relatively speaking.

On the other hand, I'm curious as to how him "protecting" Paul with his verbal assault will affect their relationship, because I could see it having a positive effect on Jon, or making him hate him even more. Emotions are funny that way.

Jon is rethinking his choices right now.

As for how this affects their dynamic... sometimes I think I should just post future scripts here, but yeah, let's just say you'll find out soon enough :)

It probably wasn't the brightest thing to do in this situation, but it's still sweet that Jon would stand up for Paul.
