Ken actually considering hating Paul as a favour to Jon is so sweet to me, and you’ll never change my mind.

Pffffffffft this whole page was sweet. Jon really needs to get over this. SO BAD. I bet he and Paul could actually get along pretty well if he wasn't being, you know, like this.

Please, he's only in a major city with (at least) thousands of women of the appropriate age and relationship status around to consider and choose from. How would he manage to find a better prospect than a happily monogamous woman in a relationship with someone else with so few prospects? Plus, it's not like he's working in a social job where others literally walk up to him every day or anything. Just because he's throwing out their phone numbers at the end of each shift habitually doesn't mean he has other options.

Eh, I can see it. Most of us at least pay lip service to generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness and consideration as reasons to appreciate others, but what really gets most of us going is our hatred of specific other people, groups of people, and 'kinds' of people. I wish there were a good and useful way to put that to work somehow....

Yes, that is an underrated and inadequately well known piece of work from the BBC. It bothers me that we don't have enough newer things in the genre of Sci-Fi that mock everything deserving as freely. In part I blame Douglas Adams for enjoying the whooshing sound that deadlines make as they go flying past too much, and then dying.

Spite can sometimes be a good motivator to get stuff done! "I'll finish this project before CHAD has a chance to accomplish something!!"

And yeah, I love Red Dwarf, and it is sad that there aren't as many sci-fi comedies out there, considering that tends to be the kind of sci-fi I enjoy the most! The only recent one I can think of is Futurama?! And that's not actually that recent, thinking about it...

Red Dwarf is one of my favorite series. Here in the States back in the day, the only way to get BBC comedy was on public broadcasting. Our local PBS station had Red Dwarf on at 11 PM on Saturday nights. My Mom and I would stay up and watch it together, so it has a special place in our family.

That said, if someone doesn't call someone else a smeghead soon, I'll explode. :D

Cue Jon calling Paul a smeghead, picking a fight, and smashing his and Ken's faces in the floor while thrashing like an idiot spaz? We still haven't seen how those injuries happened yet, and Jon getting drunk and acting even more foolish than usual has precedent in the material.
